One of the first, if not the first, in the newest wave on Independent drill teams, MassDrill had humble beginnings in the rustic Northeast corner of the United States. The team started out as a Massachusetts Drill team, and stayed that way for over a year. More recently, Andrew Schuster, the founder and captain, of MassDrill, decided to change MassDrill's mission. The team went national, and the name no longer stood for a state, but "Drill for the Masses."

This team has bolstered multiple notable names throughout the years holding a competitive roster throughout its time as an active competitive group.

MassDrill currently and in recent years has become an organization and brand with a focus on highlighting the past, present and future of rifle exhibition. MassDrill has solidified itself as a staple in the community in support, innovation, creativity and more working along side many great organizations, teams, people etc. to make things happen both on and off the floor.
